Now growers have a hard-hitting insecticide that can eradicate TPP pressure, even during the mid season peak activity.
Tripsol is a new insecticide, marketed and distributed by Zelam and developed in conjunction with the global crop protection company Cheminova.
Tripsol has been extensively trialled over four consecutive seasons.
The experienced field research team from Zelam and others have shown that it will provide exceptional control of TPP, even
during extreme insect pest pressure, the company says.
Tripsol contains abamectin and the new powerful active ingredient acrinathrin.
"This combination provides effective knockdown, persistence and repellency activity, which are essential requirements for the control of TPP.”
The new product is an oil in water emulsion (EW) formulation that provides all the benefits expected from a free flowing liquid, including reduced operator hazards.
Zelam says used as part of a robust spray program in either tomato or potato crops, it provides excellent activity against TPP at all stages of the life cycle.
When Bryan Hart (crop manager for A.S Wilcox & Sons) was asked how Tripsol performed in potato crops last season, he said it was an excellent tool through the rising and the peak pest pressures of last season.
"It controlled the adults and knocked out the eggs as well. This was a great result to break the life cycle when we applied it during mid to late January last season, under what were favourable conditions for the pest and at a time when it can be a struggle to achieve good pest control - this product jumped on it.”
