Don’t miss out on the latest agchem info
Don’t miss out on the latest agchem info
Published on 16/06/2023
At about 800 pages, with around 140 new listings,
and 100 label amendments to existing list
ings, plus the latest regulatory amendments,
the new manual is hardly a light read.
But it remains a must for anyone in the in
dustry who relies on gold-standard technical
support for all things crop protection.
“Comprising a comprehensive alphabetical listing of products, active ingredients, crop
and weed tables, weed, pest and disease photographs and much more in one single publica
tion, it really is the definitive agrichemical
guide and the only one you’ll ever need,”
says editor Peter Holden.
As always, it’s worth ordering early directly
through the website (
www.novachem.co.nz
)
as there will be an early-bird bonus offering.
Content wise, Holden says a major change this time around is to do with hazard codes and safety precautions, as our industry transitions from historical, New Zealand-centric HSNO classifications and wording to internationally standardised language.
The GHS – or globally harmonised system of classification and labelling of chemicals – is administered by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and was first introduced in 2002. It aims to ensure information on physical hazards and toxicity from chemicals be available to protect human health and the environment during handling, transport and use. It also provides a framework for harmonizing rules and regulations that apply to chemicals at national, regional and worldwide level, to facilitate trade.
Other changes in the new edition of the Novachem NZ Agrichemical Manual include many new product listings as well as updated listings for existing products which include active ingredients that have been affected by regulatory review over the past two years, Holden says.
“As in previous editions, the trend continues with regards to withdrawal of older chemistry that presented a high risk to users and the environment being replaced by more target specific products, which are much safer to use and present a low risk of environmental harm.”
While a large number of people continue to enjoy having a hardcopy of the Novachem Agrichemical Manual, subscription to the online version has the additional benefit of providing product updates as they occur as well as being able to directly link to labels, safety information and further technical information from product suppliers.
